Uncle Kracker Concert December 1, 2006
The Joint Center at the Hard Rock Hotel was my third Uncle Kracker concert and it was over the top! I had reservations to
go out to Las Vegas on November 17th to take my mother out to see Barbra Streisand and Il Divo at the MGM Grand. I
was surfing the net looking at coming attractions and discovered the December 1st concert. Being the Kracker fan that I
am I was very disappointed that I would be two weeks early. To make a long story short I was given the opportunity to go
back out for the show!
The first two nights of our trip I booked us in at the Hard Rock Hotel and the second two nights we stayed on the strip.
I ordered tickets for the concert and got our two tickets in the balcony. I checked and noticed that we were behind the
sound booth so I wasn’t sure if I would like that so I also got two tickets for the floor. As it was we used the tickets in the
balcony. Shooter Jennings was on stage and people were moving around up in the balcony and this guy comes and stands
in front of us. I recognized him as Kid Rock and then Kenny Chesney joined him. They were standing in our view of the
stage.
My daughter is a really huge Kenny Chesney fan so I thought I needed to take a picture because she would never believe
how close they were standing. I was trying to be polite and I didn’t even have the flash on my camera. I looked up and
Kid Rock had moved closer and asked me why I was taking that picture. I told him because I really wanted to. He asked if
I wanted to get in it…I was off that stool in a flash! He told Kenny to turn around and get in the picture and my companion
took the picture. They then introduced themselves and went on about their business! That made for a wonderful concert
story to take back home to Houston !
The show was wonderful Kid Rock came out as a surprise guest and sang “Drift Away” with Kracker. He jumped on the
drums and finished up “Drift Away” and then jumped on the keyboard and did a solo of his own. Kracker did a couple
of new songs off of Happy Hour and then Kenny Chesney came out and sang “When The Sun Goes Down” it was such a
fun night!
